Sunday Dyeing

 emoticon

Today I dyed some yarn I had lying around. I dyed 500g 4-ply in a dusky rose…

…and 500g double-knit in blue. I was actually going for grey, but the “black” dye diluted into this strange stormy blue. Oh well.

In other news, I’m really pleased to say that the pattern I was talking about has been accepted by Inside Crochet magazine, and it will be published in their August edition. Yay!

Fear not, I will update you all when it hits news-stands.

More yarn!

 emoticon

And there’s more!

Another, colder-purple skein of Iris pour moi, and a blue skein called Reykjavik.

I’d dye more, but I can’t find my other cone of sock yarn, or my other packet of dye. Typical.

Hand Dyed Goodness

 emoticon

I have this week off work, mostly to complete my end-of-year OU assignment, but I’ve managed to fit some crafty-goodness in, too: I thought I’d try my hand at dyeing wool, and these are the results!

I’ve called the variegated purple and teal colourway Shug, and the purple Iris. I’m keeping one skein of the Shug for myself, to knit up socks for my Christmas present stash (and because I’m just dyeing (har har) to see how they stripe and pool when knit up).

The remaining skein of Shug and the skein of Iris is available on etsy, for whoever wants it :)

Each skein weighs 100g (enough for 1 pair of socks), and is superwash 4ply/fingering sock wool – 75% wool and 25% nylon, and machine washable.

Daffodil dyeing

 emoticon

The Guild is participating in Art Week, and as a part of that we’ve been given the task of creating something inspired by Wordsworth’s poem, I wandered lonely as a cloud.

I decided to try my hand at natural dyeing, and these are the (still drying) results:

Step-by-step destructions will follow when I find my camera……
